SS16 LFW DAY 2- DESIGNER SHOWROOMS

#LondonFashionWeek

Honey, this high street get up was getting me papp'd. I was not prepared lol.

WHAT I WORE:

River Island Jacket
Mama's Shirt
Next Trousers
Puma Trainers
Giant Vintage Specs

I obviously did some preparation...this suit didn't just hop into my suitcase hehe.
My outfit was very much inspired by a NY street style picture I came across a few seasons ago. The jacket and trousers aren't an exact match in colour, which is why I raided my mama's wardrobe for a long  casual shirt to slightly distract. This white linen shirt was a perfect fit, a clean structure yet cool and casual look.
With the change in location for this season of fashion week, I definitely chose the option of wearing a more comfortable shoe to stomp around in; what's more comfortable than a pair of trainers. These old pumas have sat in my closet for a little while, which is why they are so clean. To throw in that feminine touch, I did a girly hair do, popped on a Marilyn Monroe red lip and added a quirky pair of glasses.

ACCESSORIES

Once I entered the Designer Showrooms I was in complete awe of what I saw. Each stall had a few pieces hung to show off their collection. Each designer had something interesting to share about what inspired their newest pieces, the quality was to die for.

I immediately was drawn to Harvey Santos Hats. Harvey Santos is a London based milliner who creates hats and couture headpieces that fuse traditional techniques with new materials. Paying extreme attention to detail and executing fine lines his hand made pieces are created in his London studio.
Harvey's collection 'Birdy' is inspired by tropical exotic elegance and will also be available during Paris Fashion week.

COLLECTIONS

REIN

I immediately was drawn to REIN. This 'all black everything' collection was so effortlessly chic. I love the simplicity yet interactive detail of each piece. As we all know, black goes with everything which made it so easy for me to fall in love with the direct minimalism. The graduate collection demonstrates laser cut, cage-like structures fit to spruce up any outfit.

GAYEON LEE

The Spring/Summer 2016 graduate collection of Gayeon Lee was made for the sophisticated confident woman. Having dressed the likes of Lady Gaga with pieces also featured in various magazines, Gayeon Lee showcased an exquisite line. With beautiful soft metallic hues, I was drawn to the subtle dramatic lines.

Again the fashionistas came out to play giving me so much inspiration. I'm a big fan of experimenting and upgrading my personal style, however I still have several looks and pieces that will always be apart of me.
I found myself enjoying the creativity of the photographers and particularly the menswear street style. Peep the pics :)

This day, I noticed a common thread amongst the street style. There was a nice mix of tailored structured clothing worn with neat casual footwear (trainers). I was determined not to feel any discomfort and happily wore flats all week. Sometimes dressing up for us ladies we think 'heels' but its so possible to look just as put together in cute flats.

STYLE TIP- The most authentic part of who you are is enough to make an impact :)

SS16 LFW DAY 1 STREET STYLE

#LondonFashionWeek

What I Wore

This time every year I thoroughly enjoy  playing dress up for Fashion Week. I wanted to be a little more playful and extravagant seen as summer has come to an abrupt end and Autumn has crept in. I decided to have fun with my colour palette and chose to wear orange, tan and grey  tones.
I found this lovely faux fur gillet on-line. I instantly fell in love and purchased it 3 sizes bigger than what I would normally wear. The rich vibrant colour alongside the soft moveable texture made for such a statement piece for this event. I teamed it with a plain tan vest top I borrowed from my mama and of course a pair of harems. These harems have a slightly different  shape to the others I'm used to. What I like about them is the culotte-esk feature. The drop crotch hangs a little lower giving the illusion of a skirt. The patterning of the harems pulled my whole look together adding detail with it's print. I wore some flat silver shoes and carried a plain black handbag. I was comfortable all day and looked stylish (if I don't say so myself). I love to experiment with my style and sometimes often feel I don't have any where to wear my cool creative outfits lol... London Fashion Week will always be that place.

Brewer St Car Park

As some of you fashion enthusiasts know, LFW is usually held at Somerset House. This seasons SS16 shows are being held in Soho among other places. I must say the change of location is a little inconvenient for all the street style lovers, press and fashionistas. Brewer St is not closed off which results in the road being filled with bloggers, media and celebrities all trying to, not only enter into the Designer Show rooms and BFC Space, but stand and look pretty for the magazine photographers and just plain get around.  The outside space compared to Somerset House (in my opinion) does not compare. It has made it difficult to capture the true ambiance of the street style. However I was not completely let down, the fashionistas are out to play! Be inspired!

This cool dude oozes the word 'chill'. He is a French model and stylist living in London. I had to capture this candid moment of him. His style is so clean and effortless.

I found myself falling in love with the style and flair of the photographers. This lady captures the whole essence of street style but embodies it too.

Marsha Campbell is UK fashion blogger known as LondonTallGirl. I'm a big fan of her attention to detail. This pink ensemble was a show stopping number.

Bumping into Ramario (far left) and Payzee (middle right) is always a pleasure. I eagerly look forward to seeing their creativity. Their fashion taste is a form of art.

Fashion blogger and designer Juliette (aka RomeosFashionFix) waltzed on the scene and slayed. For me she does no wrong!!

Street style is the most authentic way to be inspired. There is a plethora of individual expressions.

"fashion says 'me too', style says 'only me'.
- anonymous.

LFW is a place for us stylists to experiment, inspire, aspire and showcase. It's very unlikely that people will be dressed the same, the street style is very much a "this is me" moment. Although London in general is a city that embraces all shapes, sizes, colours and dress sense, fashion week is somewhat a platform and occasion to 'do you' without so much judgement.
I sometimes shy away from anything that is too extrovert or eye-catching to avoid drawing attention to myself, but I'm learning that my style and taste in clothes is apart of me. People will look, stare, laugh, smile, enjoy or detest you whether it be for your exterior. Being you is who you are, to change or adjust in the hopes you will make others feel more comfortable about something they do not understand, only takes away a piece of your individualism. Stand tall and walk proud in all that you are!

If you're not already following me on snap chat (annies-world), go ahead and do so to keep up with some of the live events and silly antics I get up to. :)

WHAT'S THE TEA!

#LondonFashionWeek

Just touched down in London and already I'm giggling like a little girl with no cares in the world. It's crazy how living here in London didn't have the same affect on me. Any-who... girls I'm here for fashion week and I CAN NOT wait. I've been keeping up with the New York Fashion shows living vicariously through celebrity snap-chats lol. The Michael Costello show was amazing! These designers are truly incredible at what they do. The Blonds showcased a show stopping collection, but my favourite so far is Kanye's season 2. I am in total LOVE with all the nudes. The shabby chic style is my thing right now, so effortless! These pieces are great to work around!

I am looking forward to what London has to bring this SS16. It will be held in Brewer St car park...interesting!

So today I met up with my home-girl Julda to prep for the weekend festivities. We checked out the location and popped into this cute little tea and biscuit spot. Cutter & Squidge have adorable cookies shaped like macaroons, super tasty and fattening I'm sure. Shout out to their customer service, the two young ladies were sweet and friendly!

I went for a monochrome look suitable for the bipolar weather we currently have. A simple long white vest top/dress over the top of a pair of skinny jeans is a great way to feel comfortable when transitioning to autumn. I went for some ankle boots which kind of give the illusion I'm wearing thigh high boots with a dress. I added an oversized textured cardigan for warmth and a fedora for style. Peep the pics!

HAT- Birmingham Market
CARDIGAN- Traid
TOP/DRESS- H&M
JEANS- Primark
BOOTS- United Footwear
BAG- Jones

We stopped by Busba Eathai to grab dinner before shopping. I decided to order something slightly different. I went for the Sen Chan Pad Thai with a side of sticky tamarind wings and sweet potato fries, I was hungry girl!

If you happened to be on Bond St in need of some good food, I recommend Busba Eathai. The price is right, the portions are decent and it is actually tasty. It's a pleasant place to dine for those late lunches, quick catch ups or even first dates.

I'll be posting a little more frequently this week to keep you all updated with my whereabouts throughout London Fashion Week. If you want to join me in the festivities, follow me on snap chat: Annies-world.

STYLE TIP- Knowing your identity determines your boundaries. Don't allow yourself to be intimidated, it destructs the foundation of your confidence!

Hey everyone!! Autumn is sneaking in and I'm here for it. Simple pieces are perfect for this season.
I have a thing for earthy tones anyway, but wearing a colour palette like the Autumn leaves is a nice contrast against any neutral colour.
Here are a few looks to inspire you! Enjoy :)

IF I WERE A BOY...

#ShabbyChic

Sometimes it's so much easier to look a hot mess but I can't bring myself to do it lol. I most definitely have days I look so bad I'm unrecognisable, but for the most part if I'm not feeling fashion savy, these are the looks I go for.

To be an attractive woman doesn't take a whole lot, it should be based on your demeanour, how you carry yourself, the way you treat others and the characteristics you have. However a lot of us human beings are attracted to what is attractive, which usually for the male species is femininity.
We aren't all as shallow as a kitty pool focusing solely on the outward appearance, but I can't lie and say the exterior isn't something I notice! We all have a wondering eye.
There is a high percentage of men out there that don't mind a woman who can get down and dirty with the guys, that too is an attractive quality, but I reckon most men would prefer a woman that has the stereotypical feminine style I.e. figure hugging dress and heels, well kept mani and pedi, and a sweet smell. To ensure we are "well kept" (in general, not for the opposite sex specifically) it takes a certain amount of effort. For me, I like to feel good about myself, I enjoy the girly things like doing my hair, putting on make-up and doing my nails but lately girrrl, I just haven't been that bothered.
These are my style secrets on how to find the balance in looking shabby chic!

  • HAT LIFE

CAP- EBay
TOP- Oasis Market
HAREMS- EBay

Wearing a hat solves a bad hair day, gives a little "incognito" style and allows you to look somewhat put together. I have quite a few fedoras but I always seems to reach for this basic black baseball cap when trying to achieve a decent fit. It's perfect for that sports luxe style and or the "I just came from the gym" look.
